With all the social distancing, I haven’t been reading as many new books and I don’t have any more physical books from the library left to read either. So I anticipate for the April recap I’ll have a lot more backlist books to discuss. Surprisingly, though, I read four in March!
The Last Thing You Said by Sara Biren
I decided to read this because I enjoyed her other book Cold Day in the Sun so much. But this one fell a bit short. I like the idea of the book, but there were too many problematic aspects that I couldn’t enjoy it.
Beyond the Bright Sea by Lauren Wolk
I love this book. Lauren Wolk never fails to write memorable characters and moving story lines. I wish I could live inside this book and have island adventures. Thoroughly enjoyed this and I hope to find a physical copy of it some day to own.
The Story of Kullervo by J.R.R. Tolkien
I read this for Tolkien Reading Day on March 25. It wasn’t what I was expecting for a Tolkien story (and it is unfinished), but I loved reading how it connected to Tolkien’s canon and influenced his stories about Middle-earth.
To Darkness Fled by Jill Williamson
I don’t know why I didn’t read this entire series sooner, but I enjoy it immensely. Except that ending. I just want to take the two main characters, shake them by the shoulders, and yell “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” before smashing them together and saying, “Just kiss already!” But whatever. There’s still book three to read.
