This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Characters I’d Like To Switch Places With. There aren’t a ton of characters I’d want to switch places with permanently because most book characters go through terrible things. But I might enjoy switching with some characters for a day or two, just to see how their world is. Here are ten.

Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan: Okay, who doesn’t want to hang out at Camp Half-Blood with Percy and Grover? Sign me up to switch with Annabeth ASAP. Just maybe not in the middle of a quest… that might be bad.

Laura Ingalls from Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder: Reading this series as a kid felt like I was right besides Laura on all her adventures. It would be a lot of hard work, but I would enjoy learning how life truly was out on the prairie. The books do a good job explaining, but it’s entirely different to experience it.

Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery: Who wouldn’t want to spend a night at Green Gables with Matthew and Marilla?  Or to have a fine tea party with Diana or go fishing for trout with Gilbert… I mean, come on.

Iko from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: Are you surprised I don’t want to switch places with one of the ladies who actually gets a love interest? I’m not. Because with all the excitement and danger The Rampion crew goes through in this series, I want to be in a body that can be fixed if something were to happen to it. Because you know I’d definitely not survive against a thaumaturge or a wolf soldier.

Iku Kasahara from Library Wars: Love & War by Kiiro Yumi: Iku and I have a lot in common because we’re both tall and clumsy and have a passion for books. I think I would fit in well with the dystopian-esque world of the Library Defense Force. Plus, there’s always Dojo to swoon over…

Catherine Moreland from Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen: Just like with Iku, I have a lot in common with Catherine Moreland. I daydream and always have my nose stuck in a book. I think if I was in her shoes, I’d be able to navigate the ghostly Northanger Abbey in the same way and also fall for the dashing Henry Tilney. (The real reason to switch places with her, right?)

Wendy Darling from Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie: Please, Peter, come take me away to Neverland before I grow up! This is a no-brainer, guys. I’d switch places with Wendy in a heartbeat if it meant I could visit Neverland.

Abigail Rook from Jackaby series by William Ritter: While I’m not too keen about supernatural monsters, I would be awestruck working side-by-side with R.F. Jackaby to solve supernatural mysteries. How fun would that be?

Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya by Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito: I’d like to switch places with Haruhi for a day or two just to experience some wild adventures, though I’m not sure if that would mean I wouldn’t actually realize what is going on like Haruhi doesn’t. Hmm…

Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones: No, no, this isn’t so I can have Howl all to myself. I would love to spend a day in the Moving Castle, hanging out with Calcifer and Michael and keeping Howl out of trouble. Just leave the sentient scarecrow creature out of it.
